About me

In this day and age, we are more connected to the world more than we have ever been before. Thus, making language proficiency and intercultural competence become more essential in our society. The Nakdong will ensure that you flow smoothly in this vast sea of information.

Hello!!
My name is Devon Furbush and thank you for vising my website. If you've made it this far, you're probably lost on the deep web, right? HAHA. Let me explain a little bit to you about what it is that I do. Then, you'll stick around so we can become friends! I am from Texas, USA but I have been living in South Korea since August 2013 (currently in Daegu).  I'm the Founder and Owner of The Nakdong, my business that I established using Estonia's e-residency.  I enjoy beat-boxing and walking to work. Oh yea I almost forgot! I am an English teacher, too.

I also really enjoy learning about Korean history, as well as helping people communicate in English.  I'm a firm believer that the combination of real-world experience, sharp skills, and the ability to adapt to any environment holds more weight than any degree or certificate.

My business
The Nakdong, while it is the name of the longest river in South Korea, is a hub for enhancing intercultural communication. It operates as a border-free business dealing with editing, proofreading, interpretation, and  Korean-to-English translation. Thanks to Estonia's e-residency, I am able to run it remotely so that I can spread my knowledge to people all around the world.

Blog
I have been running a blog centered exclusively on Korean history and tourism since August 2017 on a new platform called Steemit. You can see it here. Currently, I'm working on a series promoting the Daegu Tour Stamp Trail Book. Check it out if you want to see some cool pictures of South Korea!!

Let's travel together!
Be my friend on Couchsurfing. I post events from time-to-time. I'm not hosting my home, but I'm always up for meeting people.

Tutoring
I'm a private tutor on the site 1on1.today. Recently, they had me featured on their blog page. The piece highlights my teaching style, work experience, and fun personality in details. Read it here.

HelloTalk
And last but not least, I'm on the language-exchange SNS app, HelloTalk. Just scan the QR code, download it  via smartphone, and you can chat with me!!
